STORM TIME

WEEEE....GOT....ONEEEEE!!!!!!!

Ahh, yes...famous last words from our trusty mascot Janine from Ghostbusters...We rarely get an option to put ole Janine up...she will grace us with her presence when a decent storm is predicted to move through...and we think this one warrants it.

First, when I came home Thursday night...I had people calling saying the local TV stations are saying no big deal. 2" at best...mainly a rain with this storm...That simply doesn't make sense to us. The NWS doesn't issue Winter Storm Warnings for 2"...unless it's 2" of ICE.

The forecast models we follow drop about 8" across the area. We think there will be some mixing of sleet, snow and rain to speak of on Friday..especially for the counties along and south of the river. So we won't go that high...but this won't be a storm where you sweep the 'dusting' off your driveway with a broom either. You're gunna need the shovel!

WATCH THE RADAR:
We are watching for a deformation line to set up over the area. This is where the precipitation constantly move over the same area. We'll also be watching for where the rain/snow line cuts through the tri-state...We expect that to set up somewhere just north of the river on Friday. Those in all snow will see the heaviest totals, so watch the radar closely.

Finally, there will be a steep snowfall gradient with this storm. Meaning as you drive out of the deformation zone for the snow, the totals will drop off dramatically and quickly, especially to the south.

TIMELINE

We think the bulk of the accumulating snow will start a little before Rush Hour on Friday and go until Mid morning Saturday. It should come down at a pretty good clip at times...as this will be the wet & heavy snow.

We're going to try something a little different for our Timeline and use some Graphics...See what you think:

- 4am-7am Fri: Wintry Mix Begins.

- 8am-3pm Fri: Cold Rain South, Snow North, Mix Between

Note how close the all snow line is to the river. Of course we sit on the line..why wouldn't we?

Blue = Snow, Red = Mix, Green = Rain

- 5pm Fri-1pm Sat: SNOW...Heavy at Times

Blue = Snow, Red = Mix, Green = Rain

ACCUMULATION TOTALS:

Right now, we expect a swath of 4"-6" across most of the area from near the Ohio River to just south of Dayton. Most of that accumulating snow coming after dark on Friday into mid morning on Saturday. Then lesser amounts south of the 275 loop and higher up near Columbus. Check out our snowfall map below.

We'll be monitoring the storm and provide updates as they are warranted. Be sure to check back often for the Latest!!!
